about SC CDBG
How to Apply
Most Community Development Program funds are awarded competitively, usually through two funding rounds per year. Business Development and Ready to Go Program funds are awarded on a rolling basis. Potential applicants must request applications from the Department of Commerce, Grants Administration Division. Application requests for Community Development Programs must be submitted at least 30 days prior to the application deadline. Business Development and Ready to Go application requests can be submitted any time. Applications to the State CDBG Program must meet all federal and state program requirements, so before submitting an application request please review the CDBG Program Description and CDBG Application Guidelines. These documents and the application request forms are available on the Program Documents page.
Why Request an Application?
We use the application request process to gather basic information about the project. That helps us determine whether the project appears to be eligible and will meet program guidelines. If not, we will work with you to redefine the CDBG project to make it eligible, identify other potential projects where CDBG funds could be used to achieve community needs, or as a last resort, direct you to other funding sources which may be able to help.
